For this project we were instructed to use at least 2 mirrors to get multiple views of ourselves. We needed at least three.
I can be seen 4 times. Three of these are my face, and one is of my back.
I sat in front of two mirrors, one was smaller and stacked in front of the large one.
There was one tall and thin mirror behind me to reflect the back of me, and the last and smallest version of myself.
We were to take on different aspects of the theme we took on for the semester.
My semester theme was gender roles.
The largest and smallest “Me” are the day to day versions of myself, while the “Me” facing away is wearing a dress, and the other “Me” is wearing a tie and a button up shirt.
We had to include reference to an article that was provided to us by a classmate. I was given an article about being intersex, and decided to play with the idea of men/women’s restroom signs for my nod to the article.
We also had to reference a work of art that we chose. I picked a painting by Anders Zorn called “Lucy Turner Joy”. I reference this painting with the small sketch at the top right, as well as the pose of the “Me” wearing the tie.
I loved this project, and really enjoyed the outcome!
