Medici Gallery- UNL Student Gallery, Richards Hall, Lincoln, NE
I am a creature of habit. You can almost always find me in one of a few places. The most likely, aside from school, is “home”. The same can be said for the places I depict in my paintings.
The work in this gallery is comprised of three small groupings. Each wall focuses on a specific viewpoint. Two walls focus on the windows of my home here in Lincoln. The third pairing focuses on a view that can be seen through a window in my childhood home, of my neighbors brick house. Each painting showcases different moments of the same space, the appearance of these locations change drastically by the hour.
While I’ve always been a homebody, in the past year my time at home has begun to feel more restorative. My paintings of domestic spaces aim to mirror this feeling. Moments of quiet, comfort and clarity, allow us the time to more fully experience our space.
This project was made possible, in part, with support from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts’ Endowment Fund.
